yottacode v0.5.0: Hardened for Daily Engineering

October 14, 2026

yottacode v0.5.0 is out.

This release is a hardening release for people using yottacode on real repositories: longer sessions, more consequential edits, parallel work, CI workflows, and local-first tooling all received focused improvements.

What changed in v0.5.0

  • Deterministic deep research โ€” /deep-research plans independent questions, runs researchers in parallel, verifies claims, and writes a cited report with explicit coverage and cost reporting.
  • Safer approvals and permissions โ€” approval cards are clearer, chained commands and more tool families can save narrowly scoped rules, and policy matching is hardened across worktrees and edits.
  • More reliable edits โ€” receipt-based and line-addressed hashline edits reduce stale-context failures and make large-file changes safer to apply.
  • Browser automation foundations โ€” experimental browser tools use isolated profiles, explicit approvals, safer navigation boundaries, tab tracking, and human handoff for verification challenges.
  • Stronger document tooling โ€” native xlsx/pptx paths and sandbox-aware docx/pdf helpers now cover more local document workflows, including structured PDF extraction and OCR fallbacks.
  • ACP and session improvements โ€” model/session controls, replay, memory, recall, and context handling are more robust across long-running workflows.
  • Sandbox and runtime hardening โ€” command execution, background jobs, credential handling, and subprocess lifecycle behavior received additional safeguards.
  • Homebrew distribution โ€” stable releases are now available through the official yottadynamics/homebrew-yottacode tap for macOS Intel and Apple Silicon.

The release includes the cumulative work since v0.5.0-rc.2, including approval UX improvements, edit reliability, browser hardening, native web search, shell transcript logs, and the release packaging path.
